WESLEY CHAPEL, FLORIDA – In a tournament littered with Florida state champions, it was a school halfway across the country that made the biggest noise on Day 1 of the Nike TOC (Tournament of Champions) Southeast 2022.The Lafayette Lancers from Wildwood, Mo., located about 28 miles west of St. Louis, stunned three powerhouse Florida teams in pool play on Friday at the Wiregrass Ranch Sports Complex, just outside of Tampa. The Lancers swept last year's Class 6A state runner-up Ponte Vedra, 25-23, 25-18; outlasted 16-time state champ Tampa Berkeley Prep, 25-18, 10-25, 15-8; and battled past Winter Park, 29-27, 25-21.
